Hi Krishna

Thanks for the welcome. A little about me and the birth of a Practice Management System hey?

Ok, prior to reinventing myself as a Remedial Massage Therapist, I spent 22 years in the IT industry as a Software Design Consultant/Developer. The later half of my IT career took me around the world as I specialised in designing and developing hospitality software for use in hotel chains including Hilton International, Sheraton, Four Seasons, Holiday Inn, just to name a few.

Always having an interest in traditional medicine, I studied Hebalism under Dorothy Hall in the late 90’s and finally settled for remedial therapies in 2003. Following my graduation I commenced a mobile massage business. Before too long I could no longer remember appointments in my head and started searching the internet for software suitable for the Australian Massage industry.

I was looking for software that would cater for the specific needs of the Australian Massage Therapist – all those health fund provider numbers, receipting requirements for health fun rebates, voucher management etc. I couldn’t find anything that came close, so I decided to start writing my own.

In 2006 I went into partnership and opened a clinic. Of course, ClinicDirector was setup to manage our bookings. Before too long, I found that the software would need additional functionality to cater for the diversities of clinic practice. ClinicDirector once again went under a revamp. Features such as calculation and payment of therapist splits, calculation and payment of referral commissions, loyalty program and points tracking and other major enhancement were added. At this stage it was still my personal software, a one off to run my business. It never occurred to me that the software could be marketed to the massage industry, after all I was a Remedial Massage therapist now.

Word soon got out about the program. Enquires and sales came in prior to me making the software generally available.

ClinicDirector was made generally available in mid May 2006. Since its release ClinicDirector has continued to undergo development and enhancement based on feedback and requests from users. ClinicDirector Version 3, released in April 2008 includes features and functionality geared towards Naturopaths, Homeopaths etc, making it more a Natural Health Practice Management system rather than a Massage specific system.

I suppose that’s what makes ClinicDirector so exciting. It is developed by a Practitioner who works in and understands the industry. It is flexible, users can use as much or as little of the functionality as they need. It is constantly under development as users submit feedback and requests.

Most importantly, it’s affordable.

When I’m developing ClinicDirector and its associated utilities, I work as a Remedial Sports/Massage therapist. Working mainly with athletes, I’ve spent three seasons with the Brisbane Lions AFC, have worked with Melbourne Demons AFC and Essendon Bombers AFC during their visits to the Gold Coast in 2006.

I am heavily involved in AFL at local level, being a Level 2 Sports Trainer and President of the Palm Beach – Currumbin Junior Australian Football Club.

Hello there...
Will the man behind the software please stand up! I know you're there somewhere. Tell us a little about yourself and how your great massage clinic software came about, or share it in the 'taking care of business' forum.
Hope to 'see' you soon....
